Composition • 100% milled maize (corn) grain • No added vitamins, minerals, or additives • Free from preservatives and chemicals Physical Characteristics • Color: White • Texture: Fine • Odor: Natural fresh maize aroma • Taste: Mild, natural maize flavor Processing Details • Produced by grinding dried maize kernels • May be: o Whole grain (with bran & germ) o Degermed (longer shelf life, finer texture) • No fortification or enrichment applied Nutritional Profile (Natural – Approximate) • High in carbohydrates (energy source) • Contains dietary fiber (especially whole grain) • Moderate protein content • Naturally contains small amounts of B vitamins (some lost during milling) Food Safety & Quality • Moisture content: typically ≤ 13% (to prevent spoilage) • Free from aflatoxins (must meet safety standards) • Free from foreign matter, insects, and contaminants Shelf Life • Whole grain: 2–3 months (shorter due to oil in germ) • Degermed: 3–6 months under proper storage Packaging • Packed in moisture-proof bags (e.g., 1kg, 2kgs, 5kgs, 10kgs, 25kgs and 50kgs) • Clearly labeled as “Non-Fortified / Pure Maize Flour” Usage • Ugali (posho) • Porridge • Local dishes and baking Key Differentiator Unlike fortified flour, this product contains no added micronutrients, remaining in its natural state as milled maize only
